For my Ph.D. research, I have worked with Prof. Vernon F. Cormier on solid earth geophysics, emphasizing deep and three-dimensionally heterogeneous structure of the earth inferred from seismic wavefields, and with Prof. Lanbo Liu on ground penetrating radar (GPR) imaging and strong ground motion simulation. We apply geophysical tools to image and interpret the heterogeneity of physical properties of the Earth at a range of spatial scales. Applications of the studies include resource exploration, environmental remediation, earthquake hazard assessment, and the evolution of Earth’s magnetic field from a process of compositional convection.
