Prof. Lanbo LiuMy research interests are
near-surface and subsurface imaging through
geophysical (seismic, acoustic, electric, and radar)
surveys for engineering and environmental purposes;
Modeling wave propagation through finite difference
and finite element methods; Battlefield environment
and unattended ground sensor network; Geophysical
detection of fluid flow in fractured rocks.

Lieyuan ZhuI earned my B.S.(Geology) from
Jilin University and M.S.(Geophysics) from State
Seismological Bureau of China in Beijing. After
working for the State Seismological Bureau of China
on earthquake prediction research for 2 years I
joined Boston College in 2001 for my graduate studies
and was transfered to UConn in 2003 for PhD. Although
I am a full-time RA at present, I enjoyed teaching
exploration Seismology, Hydrogeology at Boston
College. My current research is on numerical modeling
of electromagnetic fields and wave propagation with
Dr. Lanbo Liu. Further, I am interested in
computational electromagnetics, numerical modeling
techniques for waves and fields, exploration
seismology, acoustics, and geophysical inversion.

Yongping ChenMy interests are in modeling,
measurement and interpretation of interfacial
polarization (Maxwell-Wagner effect), electrical
conductivity, temperature, geometry, and bound water
(surface area) effect on the complex dielectric
permittivity of partially-saturated soil mixture;
predicting the 2-D velocity fields by tau-p analysis;
modeling of non-linear wave propagation; measurement
of electromagnetic properties of contaminant
remediation pertinent materials and compounds in the
frequency band of 10MHz to 10GHz.
