Applets and Programs

• 3-D vector fields applet   Java applet from Falstad.com for 3-d visualization of EM fields and potentials. To run, unpack the zip file, then open index.html.
• relax.c   Sample program for solving Laplace’s equation by the relaxation method, in C (for any ANSI standard compiler). Can also be read as a text file.
• relax.mcd   Sample program and graphics for solving Laplace’s equation by the relaxation method, in Mathcad (Version 11 or higher). A printout can be found in the Lecture Notes section, towards the end of file Relaxation_Notes.pdf.

Web Resources

There are of course innumerable web resources for physics, and you should explore on your own, since I have not yet had a chance to prepare a meaningful compilation.  Nevertheless, here's a small start:

• Falstad Java applets  A large collection of free applets demonstrating principles of basic physics and quantum mechanics.
• Chaotic fields around simple wires An amusing report showing that even a simple pair of wires generates not-so-simple magnetic fields.
