Particles, Astrophysics, and Nuclear Physics Seminar

Professor Mikhail Shifman
Theoretical Physics Iinstitute, University of Minnesota

Non-Abelian Strings in Supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories and 2D-4D Correspondence

I present a broad review of recent advances in understanding confinement and Yang-Mills theories at strong coupling at large using supersymmetry-based methods. The main focus is on discovery of non-Abelian strings and confined monopoles in a controllable regime.

About the speaker: Prof Shifman is one of the world's leading theorists in particle physics and quantum field theory, and is also well known as a great communicator, having written many classic books and lecture notes.
