Ultrafast Molecular Dynamics Directed by Shaped Laser Pulses
I will discuss experiments which follow and control molecular dynamics on ultrafast timescales with intense shaped laser pulses. From measurements of how the phase of a molecular wave function can influence the breaking of a chemical bond to making electronic wave packets by ionizing a molecule, strong laser fields can be used to observe and direct the motion of electrons and nuclei far from equilibrium.
