Gluon saturation in high energy QCD

The idea of saturation of parton densities in high-energy QCD is an old one. However, it is nowadays when the kinematical region (small-x) in which the saturation phenomenon may show up is becoming experimentally accessible. This has triggered an intense theoretical activity about this topic. I will review the basic formalism for the understanding of saturation physics, focusing in the Balitsky–Kovchegov equation, both for fixed and running coupling, its numerical solutions as well as its phenomenological applications.
