Special Seminar

Real Time Construction/Simulation of the Global Energy System at Multiple Scales and Software Tools for Stakeholder Engagement

Dr. Rajan Gupta
Elementary Particles and Field Theory Group
Los Alamos National Lab

I will describe how it has become possible to assemble a global system as complex, multi-dimensional and multi-scale as the world energy system using Google Earth, Wiki tools and the global community of internet users. The first version of such a tool is available at: http://openmodel.newmexicoconsortium.org

I will then discuss why and how systems like these can help collect, collate, and make available information that can inform people and educate them on many important issues. Our final goal is to create tools that will help us analyze in real time the energy-climate interaction to facilitate the transition to carbon neutral energy systems.
