Constant Velocity Mössbauer Scans. Application to Phase Transition, Relaxation and Reaction Studies

Mössbauer Thermal Scans (MTS), carried out at zero doppler velocity, were explored by U. Gonser during the early sixties. Since then they have been used from time to time, but this technique was never formalized as a fully quantitative one.

In this seminar the recent application of MTS to measure the temperature dependence of the magnetic hyperfine field in the antiferromagnet FeSn2 is presented. Other potential uses will be discussed. An introduction to the Mössbauer Effect will be included.
