Scanners & Scanning

  1. What scanners are available for the Department's members?

    The Department of Physics provides the following scanner to the Department's members:

  2. Can I scan slides or films?

    Yes, you can scan slides and film strips - with up to six negatives per strip - using the built in 35mm film strip adapter.

  3. What software should I use with the scanner?

    The scanner is attached to a Linux computer. Type xsane at the command prompt (or create an link on you desktop pointing to /usr/bin/xsane). The graphic interface is very intuitive; extensive online help is also available.
